In 2015, neuverBand inaugurated an international initiative whereby composers from all over the world are invited to submit their work to us for consideration for a future collaboration. Composers of any nationality under the age of 40 were invited to send us a pre-existing work to be assessed by a jury consisting of Uroš Rojko (Slovenia), Liza Lim(Australia), Erik Oña (Argentina/Switzerland), Marcus Weiss (Switzerland) and neuverBand Artistic Director, PaulClift(Australia/Switzerland). As with the first edition, the response to this second edition was overwhelming: 327 entries by composers from 57 countries.
Yu Kuwabara (Japan, 1984*), was selected unanimously as the winner, for her work Shadowless for solo violin and 8 musicians. This concert programme is made up of works by our jury members alongside the world premiere of Kuwabara's new work, and an Ensemble Pick from among the entrants, Elnaz Seyedi's Fragmente einer Erinnerung.
